Kennedy Eats: Kathy’s Grill

For those living in the Dorset Park neighborhood, Kathy’s Grill is a hidden gem. Offering an abundance of Greek and home-style food, weeknight dinners are made easy. Located right at 1158 Kennedy Road, near Lawrence Ave East, Kathy’s Grill is about to become your new go-to family restaurant.

The food is quickly made to order and can be enjoyed either by dining in or taking out. The atmosphere is very laid back with simple decor and countertop seating. However, if you’re looking for a gourmet burger shop, steer clear. Kathy’s Grill keeps their menu items traditional with classic options.

We ordered the Chicken Souvlaki Dinner, Gyro Pita and Greek fries (dressed with lemon and feta). While the Greek fries are not on the menu, we highly recommend ordering them for a flavourful twist on your typical french fries!

Let me tell you, the portions were huge. At $11.25, the chicken souvlaki dinner is filled with your choice of rice or fries, in addition to Greek salad, marinated chicken breast, and a buttered dinner roll. You can easily have enough for leftovers too, a win-win for us all! The gyro ($6.25) was flavorful, dressed with tomato, onion and tzatziki. The Greek fries were filling enough for 2 people and were absolutely delicious. We can’t complain on their generous feta servings either! For what you get, the quality is definitely worth the price.

Other menu items that caught my eye include: homemade hamburgers, chicken fingers, fish and chips, poutine, pork souvlaki, chicken fillet, onion rings (that looked like the largest onion rings we’ve seen) and baklava.

If you’re looking to try a new restaurant nearby, Kathy’s Grill is here to welcome you with open doors. With reasonable pricing, comforting and tasty food, and friendly customer service, Kathy’s Grill can’t be beat. We hope this becomes a new staple in the neighbourhood for years to come!
